I'm not arguing the price of the car. Like I said I'll keep it till the right buyer comes along. Not in a rush. I was just asking if people had the same experiences. Don't want to get into a debate about the price.

You can look at it from the buys side of things to, no harm in trying. If you can get yourselves a bargain then it was worth it.

Take a figure you think the car is worth. Add 500-1000 when advertising and then sell for 1000-1500 less. That way you get a good price and the buyer feels good like they got a good deal. I had guys call and ask is the price neg, I always said yeh everything is neg but don't bother if you're going to offer $xx-XX. Another thing, most guys are coming around to test the price if they're looking at a few cars (let's be honest there are a lot of WRX's in Perth) so they can say "the other seller is giving this price etc..." I always tell them if you want me to give you the best price (~1500 off) you need to give me a deposit today otherwise advertised price is what i want. /csb

Yeah i understand bud, But in my case, he offered a price i said no then 5 minutes later hes knocking on my door with another price which was still to low and i said no. I dont mind someone offering a low ball offer but seriously if you think 3-4k under the asking price is ok then somethings seriously wrong here

Why not?

Friend of mine just bought a car, had no problems paying the full asking price.

He simply said "ill give you xx in cash right now if you want to sell or I need to go think about it"

Guy took the offer after a minute to consider it. Saved 3.5k and the price range is actually a little lower then what your selling for so even in that ballpark some people have room to move.

Ah people with their crack pipe pricing and selling.

If you don't expect to have the price dropped to either:

(a) market value of the car (yes you love your car and think its worth a fortune, but in all reality, its just another car)

(b) Around 5-10% of the value less than what you are asking.

you have rocks in your head. If you want full asking price, put that up... But you won't have many people coming to purchase.

Also, can someone explain to me how a 10+ year old $40k new WRX is still meant to be worth $15-20k?

Some people cant afford to still have their cars or are in so much debt they need it gone,

This is so far off topic now its pretty gay, Just was asking people experiences. Not everyone's input.
Im in no rush so i actually couldn't care less. No problems

Everyone here who is saying 3k under your asking price isnt bad. Well when it comes time to sell your car we will see if you will sell for 3k under ur asking price. And then you can comment.

I also looked on the net and roughly priced mine accordingly.

Eventually its likely that someone will come along who will pay what youre asking. Its just a matter of how long you are prepared to wait. At the end of the day though, its what others said above, its only worth what others are willing to pay. So if no one wants to pay your asking price, then its not worth what youre asking.
