To all the very special WRX/Sti race car drivers that hate bicycles, always remember, most of the cyclists are riding bikes that are probably worth near as much as your car with a much higher 'REAL' carbon fibre content.

Such a big rant about bicycles in here. I, personally have no problem with them. During peak hours, they arent going to slow you down anyway. what Perth REALLY needs is some kind of heavy tax on large 4wd vehicles and the type that have a high ride height, or generally reduce visibility for other road users. Particularly those in city areas.
"aww theyre safer, and i NEED a ten mile high, slow brutish car with poor visibility to take the kids to school, its the only way" F#@KOFF!

Does that make them 'god like'?

If so, I'll sell my kidney for one of those.

May have some people to help you there, no wait, you'll get there soon enough.

Nice to see a few cyclists on here!

I've been racing bikes for over 15 years, have had 2 "incidents" only with cars in that time (touch wood...).
I'm probably one of those guys you hate- i ride out from the kerb, move into middle of lane before roundabouts- although i don't sneak back up past cars at the lights- that shits me too.
Unfortunately you need to be a bit of a prick on the bike to make sure cars notice you. If that means it costs you 10 seconds of your time, you'll just have to deal with it- better than someone phoning my wife to tell her her husband is dead because of some idiot driver.

I spent 4 years racing in Europe and the difference in driver attitudes towards cyclists is just unbelievable- i think as cycling becomes more well known as a mainstream sport Aussie drivers attitudes may change- may...

For me, that is the key to gaining respect/tolerance from drivers.
If cyclists all did this there wouldn't be anywhere near as much anger toward them. You'd only ever pass a cyclist once, not 20 times.
I've only once ever seen a pair of cyclists do this. It was on Orrong Rd in morning traffic and I felt like congratulating them on their courtesy.

Julian84...That would not work as they would have to fine buses, light trucks, supply trucks ect..
