what happened to the rule where you need 3 defects to be able to be stickered? Or is that some myth that has done the rounds...

it's a Shame, but I guess its the risk we take by having modified cars.

looking at that photo I would say you would pass first go.

If somebody could lend you a silencer to fit inside it hopefully same size
then it will knock the noise down and you should pass with no problems.

I've read the ADR's regarding exhaust modification recently and there was no mention of tip diameter or even pipe diameter. Only noise, emission, ground clearance and security requirements. They should get their facts straight.
+ 1

I really am getting sick of these rediculous laws and powers given to the police.
With absolutely no evidence they have acted as judge, jury and executioner on the road side with no way of appealing beyond spending your own time and money getting the sticker cleared.

The vehicle defect notice states "exhaust oversized" as the reason.

Do they issue any paperwork of why you have been given a yellow sticker?

First thing I'd be asking is which ADR are they refering to that has exhausts must be the size of a coke can. And then hope a VE SS goes past, which has bigger tips that that.

Edit: just read your post above. If they have stated that, call their cop shop and ask to speak to a senior officer. Ask where in the design rules it states the 'size' of an exhaust and how the officer is able to determine that it is oversize.

They'll probably change it to noise or something... But worth a shot maybe?

Next time I would record them on your phone.... ask them to state their name, badge number and the exact reasons for the yellow sticker.

This could do two things:
1. Irritate the shit out of them, but hey.....you already got the yellow...is there anything else they can really do
2. If they are unsure or unwilling to take the risk of it being contested/passed on further up the chain....they may just let you off with a "warning"

For all they know, you could have $$ and want to take it through the courts....I think it would be worth it just to see the look on their faces, and perhaps the odd stutter. Especially if there is ambiguity

Even police commissioner Karl O'Callaghan commented that he didn’t care if people take video footage of cops doing their job (i think that was during the Matt Butcher flying headbutt case).

Just my 2c
