Oh I agree.. and they probably cant absorb it, but the insurer has no way of waiting to see what the auction market will do.. they need to process the volume of vehicles now and take an estimated guess at the value they may obtain at auction.

It's hard to make out in the pics but my bonnet, roof are peppered with dimples. You can make them out in the reflection of the garage and the front quarter panels have the odd deeper dent along with one of the c pillars.
I would estimate easy over 100 pings in the roof and bonnet and the odd harder one.

Do you think they will take it off me or fix it? Mobile phone pics unfortunately.

Lots of people about getting over excited about buying cheap cars but personally I would be very very wary of doing it. People seem to be assuming the cost to fix the car going off of a quote a mate of a mate got and then they are ignoring the quality of the repair, cost to insure and insured value and then the resale value (would you buy a car that the current owner bought this week?!).

There is a potential for a minefield of problems a year or so down the line...how well have the dents been repaired? Did they go the cheap route and just pop the dent out without painting? Is it just bogged and painted? Did the car sit in the rain with smashed windows and then sit in a car yard with soggy carpets and trim for weeks on end?

To much risk to be saving a couple of grand for me.

gah.
I'm going to have mine assessed tomorrow.

its superficial damage only, but will be close. depends on how easy it is to pull dents out of a gc8 roof. If they offer me the cash, ill take it and run. A hail damaged car will be almost impossible to move on.

and it will give me an excuse to buy a wrx :P

just handed the keys over. I am now carless.

Assessor said it was close, and asked for my input. I said write it off. I should get a cheque in the mail shortly.

Reasons for writing it off, its a 10 year old car with 200,000 kms, now with hail damage.
Waiting lists for repairs and at least 6 months I'm told now. Id rather get something different to drive.

now, any hot tips on good wrxs for sub 30k?
