How do you go about getting an Extraordinary license?

Go to your local clerk of courts, make application and a date will be set for a hearing. However, the courts are not so liberal in giving them out these days, probably best to go through a lawyer to put up a good case of hardship etc.

No hardship proven = no EOL.

As I've never lost my license, I don't know what the deal is with paperwork.

But... I sure as hell know how many demerits I have and the moment I was busted for the last set of points I would be either not driving or contacting DPI to find out what the rules are and abiding by them.

From what you have said, you were informed what date your license was gone and you didn't bother to note the date and kept driving. Therefore you have broken the law and should accept your mistake. You've been given multiple chances by the police/dpi and broken them, that's why you get hit with a massive suspension.

Mate it's unlucky but entirely your fault. You admitted receiveing the letter...........you should have read it end of story. No judge will even look at your side of the story. Also if you had of gone to the DPI they would have been able to tell you then and there.

Also you are given more than ample time before the suspension kicks in and you can apply for double or nothing. It's a few months at least before they take you licence.

I had a similar thing happen to me. I didn't go to court for the hearing (pleaded by post). The next day I was driving as I hadn't been notified of suspension. I was pulled over and my car was impounded for 28 days, I was sent a summons and lost my license for a further 9 months. I went to court to try fight it but as they say, ignorance is not the law's problem.

I get it back in 6 months and 5 days.....

QLD is mandatory 2yrs if you get done driving while suspended.
plus whatever else you were doing on top of that.

Extraordinary licenses are NOT available to drivers losing license for topping up of points...

However, you can apply if you have lost it for reckless driving, drink driving.. go figure.???

I worry about losing my license because I need it for work, I luckily dont have many points, but if I totted up 11 should I drink drive myself to the police station down the road an hand myself in? I need to get to work an the E plate is the only way...
