If I pull out in front of someone I'll usually plant the right foot and get ready for 2-3 quick gear changes. If the engine is still cold I'll wait for a bigger gap.

Yup, that RAC guide is similar to what I was taught.

Interesting to read the top of the article too, maybe that's why theres so much confusion.

Quote:
In the October/November issue of Horizons, the RAC published an article entitled Around the Bend on page 64 which included incorrect information about roundabout rules.

The article stated that a driver shall give a right-turn signal when he or she is entering a roundabout. It also stated that a driver must indicate right when entering the roundabout if they plan to exit on the second or subsequent road. This information is incorrect.

Heading straight through a regular roundabout - yes, when I'm halfway through.

If I'm in the inside lane on a dual lane roundabout, yes.

Things I absolutely hate about cunts on Perth roads:

- Failing to stop at stop signs
- Failing to indicate when turning
- Failing to indicate when changing lanes
- Failing to indicate on roundabouts
- And the worst IMO, cutting through both lanes on a dual lane roundabout just to maintain speed and not have to brake/understeer their shitter into the kerb.

I might go have a little lie down now...

When I see this happening (cause you can predict when someone is not going to indicate pretty easily), I usually pull out a bit and that usually gives them the pretty quick heads up that they didn't indicate ..

I must admit, there is a round about in Perth where i sometimes do this, but only if it's completely clear and nobody in the intersection at all.

When i moved to perth from sydney, i was told that you don't indicate going onto a roundabout, only when exiting. So does that mean i can drive round and round as many times as i like and only indicate when i exit?
Too many different rules makes my brain hurt.

ah ha, I moved over from Adelaide 12 months ago and as wondering why the hell over 50% of people were indicating left when going straight ahead- what an absolutely daft rule! WA is the only state in Australia that has this rule. Typical 'lets make a rule just to be different, we cant have WA like them there other states!'

I shall continue to indicate in a logical way- left to go left, right to go right and nothing to go straight!!

Turning right or making a ‘U’ turn
• When turning right or making a ‘U’ turn,
approach from the right lane;
• Indicate right before entering the
roundabout;
• Stay in the right lane; and
• Signal left, if practicable, just after you
have passed the last exit before the one
you wish to use.

There is nothing more important that indicating your intention while driving. The results of this poll is no surprise. Learn to drive!

^^ Prime example of laziness / idiocy.
How does not indicating your intention let others know what you are doing? 'doing nothing' does not show any intent. All it shows is that you can't drive like the most people in Perth. You indicate left out of a roundabout going straight, TO REMOVE DOUBT. If you don't indicate, there's nothing to distinguish you from the others who don't know how to indicate at roundabouts.
