I despise other inconsiderate drivers
Just looking for advice on the best way to go about this.
Parked at Kings Park this evening around 9:20 (take in the view, meet a single from Perth-WRX etc) Walked back to the car around 9:45pm. Group of 10 people of Asian appearance approached me and asked if I was the owner of the white WRX parked up. Said yes... What's happened? Told me they observed a Silver Lexus LX470 Rego: 1CSH-690 attempt a reverse Park. Reversed into the front of my car. Snapped my numberplate and dented the front bumper. No major damage, just a real cunt act that is a mild inconvenience. I'll need a new numberplate minimum. The bumper damage is a fairly easy fix. Looking for advice or anyone's opinion who has been through something similar. Have the rego, time, description of vehicle and the mobile number of the witness to what has happened. Himself and the group all witnessed the cunt reverse into my car and drive off and are happy to provide a statement to back that up. Kind regards Brett using the Perth-WRX mobile app

With witnesses it's hit n run which is an offence. Report to police, report to insurance.
Meg went through the equivalent years ago on Broadway, Nedlands. Arrogant wanker touch parked, she saw it occur. Told guy when he got out of car. His statement was "you have a nice car and are obviously insured ..." then refused to give details. Fuck arseholes like that.

Hit and run is more when something happens on a road, while traffic is in motion. That's my poor attempt to describe it, versus a knock-and-leave-the-area in a car park.
Go to crashreport.com.au and make a report, but car park crashes aren't investigated so it will be written off. However, by making a report on the website a report number will be generated, and you then have the option to make an insurance claim (as the insurance company will ask for a report number). So, car park crashes aren't investigated (unless there is allegations of drink driving or reckless driving), and since the damage is only a number plate to the value of $35 to replace (I believe?), the whole thing wont go anywhere. I can totally understand how f**cking frustrating it is. Crashes are only looked into when some serious shit has happened. Damage over $3000, someone is pissed or driving reckless, or when there is serious injury to a person. Why - I suspect its because there are too many road users, too much traffic, and too many crashes happening all over the joint, that resources just got tied up and bogged down with it all. (that's my own theory). But I digress.... |

Gutted as It happened 5 minutes before I got back to the car. It's just a pain in the arse to say the least. Means I have to pay ($243 - acrylic custom plate fee) then waste the better part of a day waiting to collect the plate from the licensing centre. Quote:
My excess isn't enough to justify a $300 repair. Just the fuck around of getting it sorted and inconsiderate Cunts who have no regard or respect. Sigh... using the Perth-WRX mobile app

I once had a similar situation where I had a person reverse into my old GC8 and drive off. Luckily a car yard provided me the rego and description of car and driver. My insurance company wanted to charge me an excess for the claim and so I gave them a choice of charging me an excess when making the claim and me moving all of my insurances or to protect my no claim bonus, not charge any cost and retain me as a customer. I am still with the same insurer.

(5) It is a defence to a charge of an offence under subsection (1) or (4) for the accused to prove that the accused could not comply with a requirement in that subsection because of an injury suffered by the accused in the incident. Pretty bold to just drive off, especially when they would have (more than likely) known someone saw them do it.
Bound to get in more shit now for not leaving a note, & hopefully fined, ripped hard by their insurance etc, which would probably be better. The cost on those polycarbonate plates isn't cheap is it, from memory. As a FYI, when I dump that rego into google, it comes up as a 2007 LEXUS LX470 (4x4).
