But if they are damaged thats a new kettle of fish. Sounded ok but simply underpowered when I heard them last.

One things for sure, I need to make new spacers, because as they sit currently, they vibrate against the door trim at high volumes (the spacers are a bit too tall). |

Ok so I bought my gear today...few changes
Got the Alpine CDA 9887 Deck...the one up from the 9886, which allows me to plug a special EQ in and tune the system up with microphones. Alpine MRPF450 V-Power amp - 70W RMS x 4 at 4 ohm, but 2 channels bridged @ 4 ohm, it punches out 350W RMS...perfect for my sub which maxes out at 400W and the sub...didn't like the Alpine Type-R enclosure, so I got an MB Quart RHG304S sub/box combo Not a super powerful sub, but will be spot on for the sound I'm looking for, which is very clean and punchy for the music I listen to (not a fan of deep booming bass). Also has a bit of rice...LED lights inside the box, which I didn't know about until I got it home. I'll wire them up to my boot light for that extra wank effect I'm using my existing MB Quart Reference series splits in the front. Picked up a bunch of decent cables...Rockford RCAs, all connectors and other cables required, heat shrink, etc etc. I'll be ripping the entire interior out to do all the wiring, and integrate it perfectly into the interior. It'll probably be a 2 day job, but at least it'll be kwality |

have you heard one play? what would you recommened for a sub that is comparable or better sounding under 1K? Im yet to hear one complaint from a person who has heard an ID MAX... Hand made in Cali perfect SQL sub woofer (best of both worlds) next step up would be RE Audio XXX but with a much bigger price tag. but will give you the best SQ & SPL combined |

there are far more factors affecting what you hear than a driver and its diameter.
lots and lots of times seen guys spending far too much money on speakers and amplifiers and yet had ZERO dampening treatment in the car. They could have spent half the $ with treatment and gotten better sound. With the exception of 'focal' none of these car branded drivers are any good. Focal isnt really a car brand its just started to become known in the circles. There is no such thing as a car driver vs an ordinary driver. The cars winning sound quality comps in the eastern states are using well speced home audio speaker drivers in them. A few years ago an rx8 using a raven ribbon tweeter took a win! anyway the best drivers are the ones with the least mass and the most rigidity. which is why any driver /sub with a big plastic logo stuck onto it to look cool is going to suck!
