Just bought a pair of MB Quart 6.5" splits and am currently having fun installing them in my MY99. haha.

Pretty much forget about the stock plastic spacer, will let you guys know how I go with it. About to make up some MDF spacers.

I bought some Focal 165v Polyglas slim in 6.5 inch splits, and with a small spacer from Reppers they fitted quite nicely.. Beautiful speakers too.

What i need to know is does anyone know the rear hatch size speaker ? Mine don't have any speakers at all in the back !

Did you attach the cross over to the door by screwing it on (looks like it) and where abouts did you mount the actual tweeters? Nice work btw

Yes Crossover is bolted inside the door, bolt and nut.

Tweeters are up on the A pillar, and they are set to -5db as anyone who have ever used Focals, they are brighter then the sun shining from Paris Hiltons bum.

Those wooden spacers are like 7 bucks a pair from Repco, i covered mine in clear shit you use for school books back in the day, in case the doors ever filled up with water they wouldn't stretch and go shit. Still have to sound deaden though, the mid ranges give a nice kick.

Nice work rexhunta, how did you attach the spacers to the door? Did you drill into the door and use bolt/nut again?

Hopefully I can squeeze my crossover into the same spot. hehe.

the spacers are nutted in too, only just. Just long bolts to hold the spacers in, then techies to hold the speakers into the wood.

Everything to do installs is so readily available off the shelf now, compared to 10 years ago when i first started stuffing around with car audio, we had to make everything ourselves to make it look 1/2 decent.

the crossover should fit in that space right under where the door handle goes, if not, theres plenty of space right behind the deck to lay them in and tape them down too, thats where there was some originally.

Pete

Cool man, will grab a pair and see how I go, not havin much luck retaining the stock plastic spacers. Too much hassle. The crossover fits pretty well using the same bolt you used except I mounted it vertically rather than horizontally (there's a fair bit of empty space for it in the door skin).
