I have scratches appearing on the tint at the very top 10mm of all the windows just where it slots into the rubber on MY10 Betty - anyone else had this issue before I take it back to Melville Subaru who installed it on the new car?

Without making a "cool story" out of this, i highly recommend Adam from Max Power Tinting. Great workmanship, excellent service, very efficient and can come to you. The price is generally $80 per window but he can discount to $70 per window if the window is frameless as it is easier for him. If you need to have the whole car done it's $300 and $270 for frameless. Lucky for us, most Subies have frameless door windows apart from Bettys (and up?).

The first photo show my car with the tint it originally had as purchased and the second photo taken on 26/06/2011 Rising Sunday with tinting done by Max Power Tinting since windows were replaced due to both my left side windows got smashed in months earlier.

Finally Adam is a great bloke and very nice to deal with.

On my 05 there not scratched , cause i can rub the marks off myself .... which is weird maybe early signs that that are close to wearing out ? I am keen to see if Subaru have the replacement pads.

Jase, I had 20% on the front 2 windows of my 06, then 5% around the rest of the car.. never got any trouble for it, and on a white car it stood out too... but yes, I think the law states that it has to be 35% all windows, regardless if it's a wagon.. reversing with 5% tint at night was a bitch anyway!

Legal requirement is 35%, no less from what I remember.
I could see an insurer voiding a policy if tint was found to be more than 35%

waits for insurance employee to correct me ...

Just bumping this thread for those that might be loking at getting their windows tinted with the onset of summer.

I just had mine done yesterday at a place called DMS Tinting and Graphics in Osborne Park.
DMS Tinting & Graphics
They only use the highest quality 3m films and give a liftetime warranty on full replacement of tint and all labour too.
(While I was in there a lady rang about the window tint on her house done in the early 90's which they were about to go out and replace)

I got a $50 RAC discount and they have a special for this month only of an extra $25 off as well.

They offer two types (Colour Stable and Crystalline) in a wide range of tints.

I went for the Crystalline which is the more expensive of the two, but it also offers 97% infared light reduction, which (as far as i'm aware) other tints don't.

I chose the CR40 for the fronts, and CR70 for the rears as they already had privacy glass and I wanted the colour to match (although the rears still look darker than the fronts)

Sure, they are far from the cheapest quote you'll get, but in my opinion they offer a top end product that will last for the life of my car.

They had the job done in 3 hours, and had no problem with that trouble spot on the rear window near the parcel shelf which I have read about elsewhere.

I'm very happy with the end product.
