Only hassle with selling your hail damaged car, is it needs to pass pits before you can transfer it... so for $500 you will have to organise it with your insurance co. then take the car to the pits and have it inspected at some cost? Then you can transfer/sell it.

Not saying its not worth it for $500... but its not as easy as it could be, for sure!

ahh yes forgot about the whole - re-registering!

good luck to everyone whos cars get written off.. hopefully they pass it without picking on too much.

but on the plus side.. hopefully all the old shitheaps cars (the ones that pour smoke out, have poor braking ability or no indicators/headlights functional) all get written off and have to somehow pass the pits. hopefully it means less shitheaps on the road. lol.

Got a letter from HBF today re buy back prices:
Less than $10,000 = 30% of the agreed value.
Between $10,000-$20,000 = 40% of agreed value.
Over $20,000 = 50% of agreed value.

if mine got written off it would have been 12.5k to buy it back.. and then left with 12.5k then take out excess... so left with 11.6k to fix my car.. stuff that.. glad they going to fix it.

Dont know if its been posted somewhere else but seems to belong in this thread...

EDIT: Link doesn't work anymore ... "09-Nissan-GT-R-R35" at pickles went for 90k. Not bad considering it just needed a new rear window... (and was covered in dents).

Was it covered in dents along with the broken window?

BTW I hate to think what the glass alone would cost new!

Missed a call from HBF this morning... got a message to call them back regarding our claim, so I ring them back on the number she left in the message... on hold for 18mins to be told I need to go through to the "storm damage" claims dept... back on hold again... Awesome!

EDIT: Turns out it was worth the wait... After 30 mins, they told me they are organising the cheque and they will send out a letter when its available, and we drop the car off then and pick up the $$s straight away!!

Much better than having to wait around for the cheque without a car to drive!

P.S - New car is on this month's boat, so should all happen in the next few weeks!!
