haha, I wish the 'spot free rinse' actually worked on a black car...

I just use a normal synthetic chamois to get the excess water off, then use a microfibre glass cloth on the body to keep it streak free

I prefer to use the Meguiars waterless wash method with a freshly washed microfibre towel (or new if you are so inclined) as the old soap and bucket method is a guaranteed way of scratching the hell out of your paintwork due to foreign matter being introduced into the bucket of water and then rubbed across your car on subsequent passes.

The added benefit of the waterless method is that you don't need to use anything to dry your car with.

But if you still prefer to use the soap and bucket method or use a method requiring you to dry your car then some good options are the Swissvax Hydralip ($42 available from http://www.swissvax.com/E/AUW/KontaktBestform.htm) or the Autoglym microfibre drying towel (around $50 and available from most auto1 stores)

There are better products than those mentioned but trying to get them in Australia for some reason is next to near impossible.

do not use chamois as they drag particles across the paint causing webbing and other fine scratches. stick to Micro-Fibre clothes.

I have found that the Auto Glym microfibre chamois is very good.
Apparently the duck's nuts is the genuine Jaguar chamois (made of some sort of pig internal connective tissue I believe)...but you will have to pay...about $160 at Barbagallo's. The upside is that they apparently last for years & years....

...or you can pay $5 for a microfibre towel and replace it every 6 months.

That thing would have to last over 16 years to be worth it

$25 willget you a really good microfibre chamois from Andrew or
Dez from AutoFX and that's what they use themseleves.

I used to use the Meguairs and other higher priced ones off the
shelf at Auto 1, Super cheap etc etc but they always left very fine
scratches everywhere, since using the one from AutoFX I don't see
them anymore.

how good is the waterless method after a rain? cause the boot gets covered in like sand n crap after rain for me.. and i dont use soap/bucket.. i go to the automatic car wash up the road from me! and that just uses high pressure jets to wash and semi dry the car..

might give dez a call and get a chamois from him then?

I dry my car using the Auto Glym wiper blade (cuts drying time) then use the Auto Glym Chamois (when used the water blade I only have to wring it out 3-4 times)
