Differences between BF and new Advance BF:

1)Advanced BF are LED back-lit. They are much brighter and clearer than the previous BFs which were already awesome. It has a very crisp display and it has a 'high definition' view.

2) Also the clear plastic on the front of the gauge is flat not rounded like the previous BFs.

3) The older BFs are not interchangeable with the new Advanced BFs. That is, the new advanced BF meter will not work with the old BF controller and vice-vesa.

For clarifications, you can drop by Evolution R to view the new advanced BF version and the older BF version.

Regards,
Mao

I also like the fact that you have the option to turn the warning buzzer off with the new advance BF Defi's...

Mao do they cost the same as the original ones or has there been an increase?

1)RRP by Defi has remained the same between the old and new BFs. No increase in price between the different gauges.

2)-Control box costs more than the previous model, but as you said, it has better features. I find it quite annoying when my older BF oil pressure meter triggers the warning sound when ignition is turned on before the start up. Obviously, the engine hasn't been started and the oil pressure is at zero, indicating engine failure. Can't turn the warning buzzer off on the old BFs. bummer.

- Also the main control unit now is hidden away with a smaller controller linked to this control box which will be a lot easier to mount on the dash.

Sorry to go a bit OT, but are the sender units the same from the old series, eg will the oil sender work with the Advance series as so on?

Would be a bitch if you wanted to upgrade the gauges and had to change all the sender units also!!

taking a look now, wont be a second...

sensors look similar, plugs are different. won't want to cut the wires to try otherwise warranty will be voided, or something might go wrong and you end up with no gauge at all.

If you really want to know, can put a multimeter across the sensor to chk later.

Old BF sensors are still available for sale, as are the new ones seperately.

That's a shame if it's so, the senders are a big job to change, that's if they are like mine and on the engine block close to the manifold (oil press and temp)
