Default HID Globe issue

Just wondering if anyone knows how to I.D. a blown HID globe, and how long they should last for?

My passenger side globe stopped working and the ballast was buzzing quite loudly. High beam on it works still, low beam won't... Googled it & found that it should be discoloured brown/yellow if it's blown, but I'm not seeing that in the globe anywhere.

And no, I haven't touched it. Lights have been in the car for 2 and a bit years.

swap the globe over to the other side. The high beam on yours is a halogen which means that the ballast doesnt have control over the high beam. The ballast only controls the low hid beam. so if the low beam doesnt light up on the other side, it will be the globe and vice versa.

Thanks for that, globe does work on the other side. Just discovered this when I pulled out the ballast too...

Yup just replace the ballast. ballast was installed in the wrong place. Should be somewhere away from heat and water -- in this case water. Remember to mount the new ballast in a better location away from the water entering the engine bay.

Not a problem, previous owner installed it with double sided tape which fell off the engine bay... my oversight for not fixing it before. Thanks for your help!

I have a spare HID set that I recently took out of my car as 1 headlight was only working sometimes. Pretty sure it was the globe. You want the entire kit you can have it, I went back to stock...

Wish I saw this earlier... just made plans to get someone to pick me one up from Evo R & I won't have phone or computer access all day... dammit. Cheers for the offer.
