Single din flip out units are gay in GC's, as when it's open, you cannot access the A/C controls. Putting the A/C controls below the deck is an option, but wasn't overly easy.

ended up getting a normal alpine headunit with ipod, aux, and bluetooth and also 3x RCA pre outs which i realised i need for my 2 amps.

was thinking more of a flip out screen for a gps feature, but ended up getting a $15 window stand for my phone which has gps lol

but yeah i see everyones point and saved myself a grand lol

And to the OP - I had a pioneer single din with motor flip-down face when I purchased the MY99. Ill describe it in 3 words.

Piece. Of. Shit.

I had to buy a ribbon cable from Pioneer USA - disassemble the thing right down to the circuit board and replace it because the cable had worn through from all the open/close. Which made the entire Head Unit stop working basically. The front just went open -> close -> open -> close and so on forever.
I think i had the same one mate, was this the model?

I had my cable fray aswell, i didn't bother to repair it as i was selling my car in a couple of weeks so i just installed the stock head unit again.

I made sure to get a single non-motorised din in my new car though.
