Do you actually know what the stuff on the gauges means or are you gonna drop like $900 because you think they look cool?

Yes it looks cool, but spend the money on something more beneficial like a upgraded turbo?? or kick arse tyres, or sway bars or something.

Ps: im not saying it to be rude, or a prick or anything, but i just don't understand the obsession with peoples having gauges everywhere, especially expensive ones like defi's. When the money can be way better spent elsewhere.

pps: it is your car however so do what you need to do.

You know I wrote up a huge paragraph on defending myself here.. but why should I?

I promised my dad that for as long as my car is under his roof it will be safe and that it wont be riddled with mods... This is my first Turbo car. I think I should learn how to drive it before I upgrade the turbo blah blah.

For now its how it looks will be what I play with!

Listen to this guy! I spent a well over the purchase price of my old GC in mods alone and i still didn't fork out for gauges because they era almost entirely a cosmetic feature and don't improve to the performance and handling aspect of the car.

I'm not asking you to defend yourself, or even answer my question to be honest.
Just trying to make you realise.

I would bet that at least 80% of people with Japanese sports cars in Perth/Aus/the world that have gauges installed don't even use them/look at them. They just think they look pretty.

If you want your STI to be safe and not riddled with "mods" why not make the thing handle better and have stickier tyres instead of some sparkly red gauges?

You could have a white line or cusco or whatever, front and rear sway bar, and roll centre kit installed for the same price as defi's

Drive a car with the sway bars done
Drive a car with sparkly red gauges.

Then tell me what is more enjoyable.

If it is looks that you want to play with, then go and drop the money saved on defi's for some nice rims or something?

Yea, Sam isn't trying to have a go.

He just trying to make you realize that the money you would pay is better worth on something else. eg. Handling upgrades.

At the end of the day it's your car & your money.

If you want Defi's/Gauges, Get them & enjoy them. If you did make a promise to your old man, Keep to it & do what makes you happy about "your car".

I only had a boost gauge in mine. I used it as I was doing RallySprints and wanted to know that my boost levels were consistent and not spiking.

If you are buying gauges for the look, just buy cheaper ones. Defi's are for people with excess money or no brains. I was the latter of the 2

Even if I get another turbo car, I wont use defi again because I cannot justify the cost. One gauge with the controller is like $350-$400 when you could get a self managed single boost gauge for a little over $100 of a cheaper variant.

I'm sure your old man wouldn't mind you modding your car in a sense to make it handle better thus safer. I have gauges in my car and hell i barely even look at them only on the odd occasion when I feel like there is something wrong with the boost. I'm sure you'd rather be looking at the road then how much boost your car is running

Like all have said, its your car and customize it to suit your wants/desire and not others.
