I am looking at getting a STi Wing on my CS9 and would like to just as the forum a few questions...

what is the specs for v7 2002, v8 2004 and v9 2006 STi wings. and how can I tell if it is genuine or fake?

number of bolts
colour of brake lights
"made in Japan" and other markings...

Why would you look at a GC8 wing for a GD.

good question. .. I am actually looking for a 2006 version and would be interested if anyone has information for any or all of the v7-v9 to see if they would fit the my06. I only put this link up because this was a good link with photos of the v5 information ... and yes I am aware that it wouldn't fit my bad boy.

Don't think buying a GC8 one is being implied, rather asking if markings etc. stated in that thread apply to the GD ones. EDIT: beat me to it, took too long to reply :P

Fuji Heavy Industries logo. I have never owned an STI wing, but I dare say there should be one on there if it's legit.



Other things to look for are missing seals/brake lights, hardware that doesn't look purpose made (i.e. a bunch of washers and mismatched bolts), ripples or cracks in the blades and sides... you shouldn't be able to pick issues with the fit or finish of a genuine wing (unless it's been repaired).

FYI: V7 (2001) and V8 (2002) had low wings - same as 01/02 WRX.
2003 - 2007 had high wings.
There is a an "05 STI" wing in the For Sale section - genuine vs aftermarket is not hard to pick. Generally aftermarket ones are fibreglass and therefore much heavier than OE which are plastic....also they tend to have less fixing bolts and the bolts are glassed into the base unlike the genuine white one pictured above where the fixing bolts are attached into slots. Genuine ones also have Subaru/made in Japan markings + a small ID number....
Pity you have a GD and not a GC8 as I will have a genuine V5 one for sale shortly.

Paging all wing experts... Does it look like the attached would fit on a GD? It looks to me like a GD style sti wing but I'm not sure. I assume gc8 wings don't generally fit GD. Pic is all there is. Cheers

That's a Version 6 Sti wing (can tell by the rear lip on the top wing surface) - will not fit GD.
