Cut and polish to try to take the cruddy layer off, and then apply a coat of wax to protect what's then left exposed.

It could stay good for a week or 3 months. Results do vary.

I had a similar problem with the bonnet on my WRX and did the above with the cut and polish and then wax. It would last about 2 weeks at a time before it would turn cruddy/milky again. In the end I went and got it resprayed. It's really not as expensive as you think ($400 for bonnet in my case, and I went and had other things sprayed too and got it all done in one hit). It was drive in and drive out. Simple.

Thanks for all replies peoples.

Made enquiries with a shop here in Bunno, and as mentioned above, it aint possible to redo just clear coat, as the feathered edges of the bared areas will show through.

Got a ball park of $600-800 over the phone, sounds fairly reasonable to me even though 1/3 of the roof area is factory sunroof.

if you daily drive the car and it's not parked under shade, make sure you get them to quote on 2 pack clear coat, acrylic is cheaper but not durable ...so u may see it get hazy again in a year or two

Car would have come factory 2pack, can't apply acrylic based clear coat to a 2 pack paint job?

Can put new acrylic over old 2pac as long as it's prepped properly.

But you're right, you can't put acrylic clear over a new 2pac base.. can't put any acrylic over new 2pac or else it will flare (get wrinkles).

Are there any painters who still use acrylic?

I only know of it being used on show cars as it's easier to cut, buff and polish.
