im sorry this is going to be a really noob question

ok ill start with my car model, 2007 impreza 2.0i
im in the market for 18" rims, my factory ones are 15", i heard going to 17" is alright without speedo adjustment but 18" u need to get it adjusted? is this right?

also.. what are my limitations on the rims, offsets etc..

ive read 5 x 100 and 5x 114.? thats 5 rims and what is the 100?

also ive read 100 x 8.5, is 8.5 the width of the rim?

and offsets.. + offset is so the rim sticks out from the tyre and - offset is kind of like a dish? what is my max (or min? offset so i dont need spacers ? (what else is there?)) or guard rolling or something

thanks heaps

edit: also ive seen some 240, 235 etc? 275?!

8.5 will be how wide ur rim is. 240/235/275 will be the width of your tyre.
Edit: For a 8.5 rim, you wouldn't generally go more than a 245, 235 is sufficient.

Offsets vary for different rims, so each case will require a different offset. Speak to your tyre store, they can get this info from the rim manufacturer. For example in one design of Rays a +45 would have been sufficient on my 06 sti, in another design +50 was the minimum.

Pls correct me if i'm wrong.

ok quick 2 questions, ive just bought 4 02 WRX rims and want to get all the kerb marks taken out and then have them painted black. What i would like to know is: what is the best way to get them black e.g. powdercoat or paint? and who can fix and paint the rims and what kind of cost is it going to be?

Cheers in advance

Tim

You could use the search button and that would show about 50 threads saying:

Powdercoating: Pwrx member 'Subastyln' - $250ish for a set.
