They won't know unless you tell them It reflashes the standard ECU so there is no physical sign that anything has happened. Unless they read this post

You still have warranty on an '04?
Retune 'difference' will be dependant on what other modifications you have. On a bone stock car it will liberate a few hp, but nothing fantastic.

I am assuming you bought this second hand from a dealer and have a 3 month warranty or paid extra for a year warranty?
If so be careful a second hand dealer could probably tell the car has been retuned and modified and they will go to any lengths to not pay you a cent for warranty. |

Another thing is that those extra 1 year warranty things like Harris warranty are a load of crap IMO.

I bought my wrx second hand from a dealer (3 years ago). I did heaps of research about wrx's weakness' and noticed that the car I was looking at buying hadn't had any of these problems at all. So decided to buy the 1 year warranty (to start after the statutory 3 month warranty) just to be safe. Long story short, I destroyed second gear, and the stardard TD04 in the first year, and they were both repaired/replaced hassle free. IMO, depending on the the cars age, make, model, service history, common specific model issues etc. an additional warranty can be a viable option. EDIT: I also had drivers side rocker cover gasket replace on the same warranty. Last edited by mattmy99; 02-12-2008 at 08:32 AM. |
