Serbaru's back to almost stock 2-dr GC8 has a new owner. Warick has just retuned the Autronics SMC in it.

Appreciate all your efforts on the car and fitting me in your packed schedule......All credit to Serbaru for maintaining it and to you guys for getting it back to basics so bloody well!

Looking forward to driving the rejuvenated machine - hopefully with the a/c problem sorted

Thanks P.WRX for all the Dyno runs and tuning jobs.

We have had so many headaches looking at bad tunes, it has gotten to both Warick and me.

Below is a Motec M800 that was on a 2001WRX that came in. car was no driving properly with consistent cutouts. Mr Warick Barnes (our tuning guru) has been around Motec too long since his V8 supercar, Petronas days and West Racing days and as such has given the following report!

History of car: Hardware on car was sold by Evolution R in 2001 with a M800 done by West Racing in 2001. The car was sold in 2002 and we have not seen it until the current owner brought it in last week.

Just some indications of who touched these cars, I am saying this publicly as both businesses are not around anymore:



RS232 connector fucked around with so the next tuner cannot access the ecu:


We however do not need to use the RS cable anymore as the firmware has since been updated by us using the newer Motec CAN (controlled area network) cable.

Tune in the M800:
1) Ignition trim was set at 18deg (WTF!! We are beginning to suspect internal engine damage)


2) Lack of definition in MAP table esp in vacuum (how did they think they were going to tune the car??)


Guys, pleae be very careful who you take to to tune your cars. Please ask for their training qualifications and certifications before asking them to tune
