Default Massa Crash in hungarian qualifying

Anyone seen the footage yet? looks like be copped a bolt to the head at high speed and got knocked out from it, causing him to crash into the barrier at high speed. He was airlifted to hopstital with a fractured scull.

Aussie Mark Webber qualified 3rd for todays race.

Hi Ante,

I've been following it a bit; nasty.

Quote:
Felipe Massa has been operated on in a Budapest hospital and remains in intensive care this evening. As reported earlier, the Brazilian driver suffered from concussion and a damaged skull in Hungary after striking a spring weighing 800 grammes which had come loose from Rubens Barrichello's car.

With the section of track on which Massa was travelling seeing usual speeds of approximately 170 miles per hour, Massa was airlifted to hospital having been extracted from the car and taken to the Hungaroring's medical centre.

The latest Ferrari press release reads:

'Felipe Massa has undergone surgery this afternoon at the AEK hospital in Budapest and the outcome of the procedure was positive. Now, Felipe will remain under observation in intensive care. An update on his condition will be issued late tomorrow morning.'

GPUpdate.net has learned that Massa has suffered from bleeding in the brain as a result of the cracked skull and could miss the remainder of the season as a consequence.
SOURCE:F1NEWS

Apparently there was a lot of debris out the there.

All the videos that were on facetube last night have been taken down?

EDIT: Found the pic, don't look if you're a bit soft.

EDIT2: And from Rubens' twitter (debris likely to be from his car too)

I just came back from the hospital.Felipe went trough a cirurgy which went very well. Now he is asleep waiting for a new scan tomorrow

Cheers,
Nik

fuk thats nasty, i spotted the debris hit first time round when watching it.

Still all the talk on F1 sites so far is about the debris hitting him on the chin, thats definitely not on the chin!!

Anyway good to hear op was succesful and he is on the road to recovery. Have read he is out for remainder of the season!

Terrible accident. Did anyone notice the g meter when he gets airborne over the ripple strip. i.e he lifts off and is still pulling 1.2 negative g then hits the ripple strip...nothing....then back up to nearly negative 1g in the sand.
