I agree with you - I reckon Webber activated the DRS early, lost the back end, deactivated DRS & regained control, then re-activated a second later.

Interesting the drivers have an override to arm the system.
The arming signal for the DRS from race control would be wireless. Then it's up to the driver to activate it on the steering wheel. The system is armed into the previous corner and the driver then decides when to release a whole heap of rear downforce/grip.

Apparently this was a result of Sutil activating the DRS that little bit too early. Have to give it to him, it's a great save!

Yeah this is what I'm trying to work out. I wouldn't mind knowing how they have a wireless on system that is accurate to a line drawn on a track. Almost as if it's GPS based or there are sharks with lasers on their heads where the line is. Pew pew.

I think the shark theory is probably accurate.

Yup - I VPN it via BBC.

I run one hd on my 42 inch screen, second it goes to an ad I mute tv, unmute my pc and watch bbc on my 24inch monitor, then flick back.

Over the top, but I love my F1.

Remember the detection point is a fair distance ( sometimes a couple of corners ) before the activation point. The car only needs to have received the permission signal before it crosses the activation point so it need not be instant. Most tracks its 2-5 seconds gap between the two points.

The cars do run very accurate gps systems tied into the data logging ( which is also used by Charlie Whiting during any post race investigations ) so you will find the car receives the permission and determines its own position and will control when it is able to be opened.

During practice and qualy sessions when it can be used anywhere some teams are running a press to open/close setup ( Brake peddle automatically closes ) where as others are running a hold to open setup. Personally I think I'd prefer to use the latter but guess it all comes down to the drivers preference and how all the other stuff is setup on the wheel.

Any punts on how long Maldonado's vacation will be???

I'm guessing the stewards will be pretty dark on this one and he'll be watching on tv tomorrow and probably be missing Monza as well.

Think the move Hammy pulled on him was pretty unsporting but should have been felt with as an "Ouy F&^kwit WTF" later in the pits.

If it was done to anyone but Hamilton I would agree with you.

Hamilton has pulled stupid stunts all season. Maldo will get a holiday, but I would love for him to hold a press conference and say "It's becasue Hamiltons black isn't it".
