yeah you would need to only forward 1 port eg 6881

what moderm/router do you have?

192.168.1.1....user -admin pass-admin...something like that, play around with it

that is a shit modem... thats your problem.

enable upnp or port forward the port.

use utorrent as your client

Yeah it's a few years old. can you recommend something else? i thought D-lInk were supposed to pretty good?

They are pretty good and you don't need a new one.

Just limit the amount of connections till it stays stable.

its a sign they are on their way out, I had 3 Dlinks that died and thats how they started, next step is constant restarting, even with connections turned down, Turn max connections down use it for a few more months and let it die a slow death .

I went out and bought a billion with voip and havent looked back since, about 3 years old now.

Exactly what my modem did perthzed. As said, download install uTorrent and in the settings change the maximum connections to a lesser number.

if you want to purchase a new modem purchase a dynalink RTA1025W.

most people on other forums seem to say this is a firmware issue on the router. Update the firmware and you should see the issue resolved.

Actually I upgraded the firmware last night for the first time since I bought it (3 years ago!) and that seems to have fixed the issue.
