could try this guide, its fairly simple:

http://www.pctechguide.com/tutorials/RAID.htm

theres a big difference between software and hardware RAID though. At the end of the day if your running Windows theres only so much speed you can get from it regardless of hardware.

iRam for the win http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sts3ZqYdObM haha

+1 for Mac or Linux

That's a pretty weird statement What about if you're running VMWare ESX in a HA with Windows Server VM's running from a 4Gbps SAN?

Windows can be pretty powerful when you give it some serious hardware.

I was configuring a SQL cluster on Friday 2x HP DL-385 G6's with 30Gb RAM each, fibre channel cards, the works, running Windows 2k3 x64 R2, given the hardware i'd be inclined to say it would be a pretty quick system.

Mind you both of those servers combined cost more than a MY03 WRX.

Maybe i should have narrowed "Windows" down a bit. I meant Xp,Vista,7 and the likes, not a server operating system, sorry. ive built some very fast windows server 03/08 servers, but thats with $10k+ hardware.

high end hardware is only fully utilized if the software is designed for it.

Problem is 'but for', the XBOX360 'Microsoft', you'd have to dual boot to MS to be able to game and even Mac now incorporates 'PC', Microsoft Office due to their failure to replicate software of the same functionality without getting hammered by copyright.

And for the PS3 Fanboi's

You can get 3.5" or 5.25" to 2.5" adaptor brackets for around the $10 - $15 mark
