Nah your right.. I have major issues with Windows 7 and my PS3 Wifi.. If I copy files into my shared folder I sometimes need to restart my PC or wait forever.. there doesn't seem to be any real reason for the delays.

Plus I hate all the faffing around in the Menus. My Xbox just detects my Shared folders and lists them without having to go through 15 menus.

If you have a lot of bluray rips or any single file that exceeds 4gb then you are likely to have issues playing those on the ps3 via an external source, e.g. usb hard drive.

From memory the ps3 does not recognise the NTFS file partition (yet), which only leaves you with FAT32.

A NAS device (with the harddrive set to NTFS) will be your best bet for playing back files of that size.

+1 for PS3media server, had problems with Tversity, kept getting DNLA errors... thinking it might just be my house and the PS3 not liking 70% reception on the wireless connection as i couldn't get it to work when the wireless router was using WPA2 encryption.... would be intermittent with no encryption. so i ran a cable to the PS3 and now ps3media server gets my vote... it will stream everything! even dvd's.... with dolby digital 5.1 intact! nice!!!!

or you could build a freenas/openfiler box and use that...

PS3media server = Win
Tversity = Fail!

At least that was my experience, never did get TVersity to work properly, but I am yet to have any issues with PS3 server.

Care to share your settings Subafury? For me PS3 Media Server seems to work pretty good but sometimes it just crashes and dies, particularly with large bluray spec files. It chews up all the spare processor and memory and craps out.

TVersity doesn't crash and burn the same way, but when trying to stream those sorts of files the PS3 says they are corrupt. On the other hand the Xbox 360 is ok with the same files under TVersity. Can't figure it out, and I don't want to run both of them to stream to the two different devices.

Before you ask - I need to stream to both because one of my teenagers bought himself a 360, and the other one bought a PS3....

Cheers,

Wrxpc
