Open it up.....thats half the fun. I fixed the RROD issue on my xbox 360. It has had a pretty hard life (i use it as media player/dvd alot). It hasnt missed a beat since the repair. The kit was like $20 on ebay, and only took a couple of hours.
If you dont end up doing anything, let me know. Wouldnt mind opening one up to attempt a fix in case my PS3 ends up like that one day.....

If its out of warranty go to one of the mod shops they do repairs. Will be a lot cheaper than a new one. Someone like this:
