yeah I wasn't trying to update to official 3.55 as I already had it but I was trying to update to cfw from the xmb and not the service mode.. I'll give it a shot when I get home and c how I go... Cheers bro

True. You need to Jailbreak to be able to play backed up/downloaded games.

The only difference between playing backed up games and originals is that it loads from the HDD instead of CD.

Short answer: Yes but do so at your own risk. You may get your PSN account banned if Sony get sand in their vaginas about this latest lot of custom firmware...

Long answer: Sony have yet to respond when it comes to the people playing online using custom firmware but in the past they have banned the PSN account of anyone using a jailbreak device. As this is a custom firmware and now they have realised it is too late to stop people from unlocking the PS3 by just releasing new updates they may just accept things as they are and start developing the PS4, this time making it even harder to unlock than than the PS3. Or they may start forcing developers to make any new games detect the presence of a custom firmware thus making us have to modify the LV2 code to provide the backup manager with whatever code the software is looking for.

ok guys bad news, sony just released a new firmware 3.56 which will obviosly take off our jailbreak... im at work but will try to bypass this using the dns trick once i get home.. if you choose not to update, u can keep your jailbreak but you cant go online.. has anyone on here using kmeaw 3.55 cf updated to OF 3.65?? and if so did your console get bricked?
