Hi guys/girls,

my nephew has had a PS3 for a bit (it was purchased OS) and played games ok for a bit, now it wont autoplay discs/games/etc and is stuck on the main menu.

really stupid question, how do i get out of the menu?

I have tried to do the system reset and it takes me back to the same point.

am I missing something?

Thanks for your help and sorry if this is a really basic/stupid question but it has me buggered.

Try connecting the controller via a USB cable to the console. It's worked for me before.

When you say system reset, do you mean just turned it off?
There is a sort of "return to defaults" reset you could try (which doesn't wipe anything, just resets system settings).

Turn the ps3 off by the power switch at the back, and hold the power button on the front. Whilst still holding the front power, turn the main power back on. It will beep a few times, then you can release. It should auto detect your av settings.

tried all of the resets and no success.

I dropped it into Repair Station Joondalup this morning. Most likely a busted laser.

pick it up in 5 days.
