Hey guys,
I was keen to get on tonight but I'm having trouble setting up my connection. I don't really do much online gaming and don't know that much about computers. I went out and bought an ethernet cable and started setting up my PS3 following the instructions on the link provided by ALEX on page one. However I'm not having any luck. Whenever I finish setting up the connection and go to test the test fails. These are my settings (on the PS3): Internet Connection: Enabled Connection Method: Wired Connection Speed and Duplex: Auto-Detect Address Settings: Manual IP Address: 192.168.1.102 Subnet Mask: 255..255.255.0 Default Router: 10.0.0.138 Primary DNS: 10.0.0.138 Secondary DNS: 10.0.0.138 MTU: Automatic Proxy Server: Do Not Use UPnP: Enabled I'm with Telstra and my modem is a Thomson TG782T. I can find the PS3 listed on the Router Configuration Page and it is showing the same IP address as listed in the settings above and is showing as active. I followed the instructions on the link and tried to DMZ the PS3 but couldn't find how to. The closest I found was: Assign the public IP address of a connection to a LAN device Which says: You might want to do this if: This device has to be considered as the unique entry to your local network (DMZ) Is this the same thing? When I try to do that it gives me a drop down list of devices but I don't know which is the PS3. They have names like Unknown-c8-bc-c8-c0-d7-ac and Unknown-68-a8-6d-09-f5-a6. If anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it. I've tried to give as much information as I could think of but if you need more please let me know. If I can't get this sorted for tonight I'd still like to get it sorted for next Thursday. Thanks, Scott |

First you need to know what the router is. If it is 10.0.0.138 - Then set your IP to 10.0.0.145, subnet mask to 255.0.0.0 If the router is 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.100 etc you want your IP Address to be 192.168.1.50, subnet mask 255.255.255.0 Basically, router determines all the addresses. Then you want your device (PS3/PC/iPod whatever) to match the first 3 sets, and then to have a unique last set. Gateway is the IP Address of the router/modem. Subnet mask on all devices is the same. EDIT - You dont have to have 192.168.1.50 but the first 3 numbers are always the same as your router is what im trying to show. |
