The network configuration for GT5 online private lounges is somewhat unique compared to most P2P gaming. Every PS3 is communicating with every other PS3. If one of those connections is flawed there can be all sorts of repurcussions during gameplay - not limited to connection dropouts. A common scenario is where two particular players cannot connect with eachother properly. One player may be able to 'see' all ten cars on the track, while the other player can only 'see' nine cars. This can cause all sorts of collisions as one driver cannot see the 'invisible' car because their router is blocking traffic from that PS3.

Static IP for the PS3 and DMZ setup virtually eliminates these problems.

Common complaint of every new wheel owner. Just practice as much as you can and don't mash 100% throttle exiting every corner. Initially you'll be slower, eventually you will be faster and having 1000x more fun.

Make sure you go into the GT5 Options menu and turn off all the wheel assists and set to Simulation (or whatever it's called) mode.

Flat. (although I did lift a little after passing the final spinning car)

High powered cars, sports hard tyres and a track rarely used was probably an invitation for carnage.

Besides that, I was not driving well tho, not sure if that was due to general crapness, bad settings or being tired and cranky from getting over a cold.
Will give it another go next week, hopefully a bit fresher then. Do u have tracks and car in mind yet for next weeks round?
I noticed in the Nurburgring GP/F circuit replay you got turned around at the first corner by a glitching car (BoganDave). I'll see if I can assist him with improving his network connection.

Next Thursday we'll be using the:

Audi R8 5.2 FSI Quattro '09
- Fuji Speedway F - 5 laps
- Tsukuba Circuit - 8 laps
- Circuito de Madrid - 5 laps

and Shuffle Racing on
- Rome - 6 laps
- Eiger Nordwand Short Track - 5 laps
- Road Course - Indy - 5 laps

Full details in the original post.

Cool MGR, I'll have a look at the replay as well, see what I can improve on and what u guys r doing at the front to be that much quicker. I hope my claim of being turned around multiple times is right and it was not just me losing the rear. I tried to be super clean while racing as u would on a real
track (I have real world track and racing exp.)

I am running a Logitech g25 setup in sequential manual mode with traction control set at 6 and abs at 8. Force feedback is on.

What setup/settings are u using?

I also use a G25 with sequential (paddle) shift.

Steering settings from the GT5 options menu:
Steering Type: Simulation
Power-Assisted Steering: Off
Feedback Strength: 5

ABS: 1
All other driving aids set to zero or off.

Fairly sure all the front running guys use the same settings, although some may use 1 or 2 traction control for tail happy cars.

I'll be getting some practice in tonight for the series' one-make races. I'll host a room from 9pm – feel free to join in.

Remember to buy an Audi R8 5.2 FSI Quattro '09 as that's what we'll be practicing in. Change the wheels and paint colour to make it your own but remember not do anything else to it.

Since most people from p-wrx are new or inexperienced with the courses and cars, I'll have my headset and I can give some tips on what lines to take as we go round.

Remember that even just running 5 laps of a circuit will give you a good heads-up on what to expect from the car. It's much better than getting there on the night and heading into the sand trap at Turn 1 because you don't know how the car is even going to brake. you're only doing yourself a favour by getting some practice in. See ya there!

Reminder for those running tomorrow night:

Guide is here:

Static PS3 IP & Router DMZ setup is crucial to getting the best network performance.

Connecting your PS3 to your router via an ethernet cable (as opposed to wireless) also eliminates many potential issues.

Here's an example of poor network connection and the associated carnage created.

If you plan on joining we'd appreciate the little bit of effort required above to ensure a good stable online experience for everybody.
