Tuner needs to set it up when tuning - it's either enabled or not - you don't have the option of enabling/disabling it.
Apparently it works well on street/MC/track surfaces, but is shit at the drags - I don't have it, so can't comment 1st hand.

If I were you... I'd just leave it.
There are a few various aftermarket "piggy back" launch controllers available.... it's not a hard thing to do. All it is, is a secondary rev limit thats hooked up to a switch (on your clutch).... when you foot is on the clutch, and when you hit the switch, launch control is activated. I had this for a while on my GTR. Worked alright. But limiter launches were heaps more fun. My 2c anyway. I'll try and find a link for you.
