Default Utec vs Ecutek

Good day fellas. Pretty tied up between choosing Utec and Ecutek (Type 3). Anyone in the house using 1 of these ? Appreciate some feedback in terms of gains as well as supporting mods your carrying.

Cheers.

i wouldnt ecutek my car even if i was paid to.

the whole concept of it and its pricing structure is a scam.

your practically buying yourself into a contract with a tuner with little to no flexibility.

Im using a Utec currently, most tuners can tune them, for what i paid and what im getting out of it its fine,

depends what you wanna do with ur car. If you got a new sti or something your planning on keeping, maybe look into the motec, however , like i did, i cant justify that money, on a car im not gonna keep long, or a car i wont be tracking or motorkhaning or etcgo the utec,
ask wombat about the ecutek i believe

I did consider the fact that with Ecutek you can't actually sell the thing. Yes you can but the cost of buying a 2nd hand one and retuning it is very subjective and almost at times cost the same as getting a brand new one instead.

I'm most definitely won't be hitting above the 400bhp figure. In fact 300bhp would put a smile on my face eventually but nowhere the 400 figure. Most likely doing a turbo upgrade to VF34 after ECU mod and that would be it. Pretty mild mods.

Thanks for the feedback. Cheers.

Do you plan to spend at least $10 grand modding your rex (ie. built motor, non-VF series 400HP+ turbo, gearbox, full zorst and intake, fuel upgrades)?

Yes: motec

No: utec

ecutek works fine - motec boys are just trying to justify to themselves that the excessive dollars they paid for their ecu means it's better than everything else.

the ecu is only as good as the tuner.
