It will be Shell 10w40 semi synthetic.

When I took my car in the workshop manager told me they use that in both the WRX and STI.

Don't know.

Give Subaru a call. I suspect they would use the same for cars.

for real?

i'd be sticking to factory recommendations. 10w-40.

10w70 is quite high.

The owners manual states to use either

5w30
10w30
10w40

in either mineral, semi-syth or fully synthetic.

I'm looking at trying Mobil 1 0w40 fully synthetic.
