Default Perth Driving - Fast Lane

After having driven in dozens of countries, I can't help but think Perth has some of the worlds worst and most stupid drivers. I go away for 6 months, come back and I am blown away by the driving. One thing that particularly irks me is driving on the freeway. People just don't seem to grasp the concept that the outer lane is a fast lane or overtaking lane and will quite happily sit there pootling along at 90. Ok that's my rant over with.

Yep there sure is and it has been in place for some time now but no one wants to inforce it. You can also get fined for driving to slow in any lane because your a traffic hazard. I know what you mean when stupid people decide to go 10kph slower and sit in the right lane.

If i i'm cruising at 110 in the right lane on the freeway and someone is hanging in there, they know to get out. If someone comes up behind me at 120 .. i merge left and let them by .. It's a simple concept.

hmm I was under the impression that the rule only applies to roads with 80kph and above speed limits, so yeah, there is a keep left rule in place on the freeway.
Your supposed to keep left unless overtaking etc.

Rule isnt really practical in peak hour traffic though, and cant really be enforced, (although Im sure you'll get one who would try)

I got pulled over by a copper for 'driving in the right lane' on the freeway once, funny tho, he was in front of me :P He then asked me why i didnt pull left like him, so i told him it would be safer if i didnt travel behind him when there was a free lane and no1 else around. Then he told me "stop giving lip, its not about safety". He did this again, both times i asked him if he just said "driving has nothing to do with safety", then he left.
