perth drivers are shocking. and i realised this after i got back from phuket. and they have pretty much no road rules. there is a difference though, they have patience and courtesy and you learn to just go with the flow.

perth drivers have no patience, all people want to do is stick up someones ass all the way down the freeway. most people on our roads dont tend to speed up when you sit up their ass. they slow down. this causes a chain reaction all the way down the freeway of people breaking hard when they sit too close. this inturn causes traffic jams.

its simple. give space to the next car infront. if you're in the right lane only use it for over taking. even if you are going 110 pull over to the left lane to let people through. doesnt matter if there is noone in the left lane either.

If you guys think phuket and malaysia are bad with road rules (i've been to both) then never go to Dubai. my dad's owned many a sports car, has a lot of experiance and is a terrific, safe driver but within an hour of driving in Dubai he just barely avoided five crashes and was an inch close to causing one himself...they ARE some of the world's worst and impolite drivers.
england was great in that you drive in the left lane (or was that right?) and people are only in another lane if overtaking.. and they do so quickly and safely.
coming back to perth i was shocked at how slow people go and how stupid it is to have rules like only being able to do 100k/hour heading down south when there's no one on the roads except you and one other person.. oh well

Ok I can understand that it's 100 from the city to canning hwy ( lots of exits and entries ) but from there south explane to me why it is safe to only travel at 100 on a freeway but get to the section past lake clifton ( or most other undevided country roads ) and it is safe to do 110.

Would agree with setting speedlimits on the freeway of maybe stay with the 100 in the left lane ( to help clowns that cant merge get on safely ) and 120 - 130 in the right. Would help stop people from cruising next to you as you try to go past and encorage the snails not to sit in the right lane.

Snail caught in the right lane = 6 month ban from driving on the freeway.

fair point you raise, if its not safe to do 101 on a 4 lane freeway, how is it safe to do 110 on 2m wide single lane road down south ?

I would like to see each lane being assigned to different off ramps. IE the further you are travelling on the freeway, the further to the right you are so for example: if you're going to Joondalup from the city you stay in the right (inside most) lane all the way until you pass the last exit before the one you want to take. Obviously in practice this would hardly work because there are so many people who absolutely must be in the lane moving the quickest and changing lanes causing other lanes to have to brake to let them back in so they can make their exit etc etc we all know what pisses us off about freeway driving. Just a thought
