Agreed. Not many people here who would openly defy their boss.

Lots of people do it all the time. It depends on the role. Some people are employed to be more knowledgeable then their boss and finding a better/safer/smarter path then what you have been presented with by your boss is a daily occurrence.

Naturally, but like you said it depends on the role. Heirachy is a big thing in the Police force I'd say.

Then be more specific on your comment. Lots of people are engineers or in high IT positions on here that WILL question their bosses direction.

I didnt say question Clint, I said defy.

There is a substantial difference. I question my boss many times a day, not many times ill openly do the oppisite of a direct instruction.

Same with this police officer. If he was told to do it by a senior officer, I dont think he would of had much a of a choice.

However is his senior officer said "what do you think" then the officer could have chosen to do the right thing.

Either way Tino's got a yellow.

Never had the question 'What if you boss asked you to do something against company policy?' That can be interpreted in many different ways.

I don’t want people doing things for me blindly following what I say without thinking because everybody makes bad judgements calls, misses a key point or an assumption for many different reasons. That goes for almost everybody up and down the ladder. It’s usually just the absolute shit kickers who you want to just do what you say.

Thats an open invite. My point still stands.
