Interesting, Evo magzine rates the handling as impressively free of understeer, whereas Edmunds comment about excessive understeer.

Based on those pieces, I hope the Oz spec doesn't run the US suspension tune

I would say Subi Oz will maybe add/replace:
215/45R17 RE050 Potenzas
Stiff sway bars
A rear LSD

Then the usual "STi tuned" options...

Question

Went down for a look over the new 08 WRX this week at STi Ossie Park.

First impressions are its a very bland looking thing.
Same side profile as a Mazda 323 / BMW 120i.
Rims are very conservative. Front sliding brake calipers don't stand out anymore.
Tyres are Yokohama Advan A10 205/50R17 with big sidewalls. Its all about ride comfort in the new WRX.

The front profile is now not so bad. I'm glad Subi Oz ditched the chrome grill.
Front scoop is very deeply set into the alloy bonnet and now directs air into the intercooler and down both sides of the rear of the engine. The intercooler is a tiny thing and now directly bolts to the compressor housing of the Turbo, ala Liberty GT.
Plastic intake manifold that should not become a heat soak is good. Better flowise I would say as well.

The rear is still as ugly as hell. Hot 4's Korea spec tailights with rear chrome trim. Tacky and cheap looking. Yuk. There is still an underbody diffuser for airflow though.

The interior is not bad. A few chromed bits. Door handles etc. Tribeca styled instruments, especially the pax wraparound shiney console. Still hard plastics. Seats are a major dissapointment though. Very flat, well compared to my 99 Club Spec seats.
Doors now shut with a very audible thud, like a bank vault. Its the change to framed windows that did that.

What really summed up the look see was the number of 50 something Mums and Dads looking at the thing. One couple even brought their fold up bed to try and stuff into the back of the thing with the seats down so Grandpa could be picked up.

Subaru are really targeting a different market now thats for sure!!!!
