Seems the cars were checked for safety and compliance with certain rules but not eligibility
Saw at least 1 Falcon with disc rear that never was an option

Yeah, that's the old argument of "we look at eligibility on the winning cars only" but it isn't fair to those who play by the rules (or close to them )
It does appear there needs to be some work done on the current rules to intice more competitors, after all how many WRX's still have the original intercooler still in place?

Yes, old argument, and they don't even do that.

I did... My intercooler was original. We are not all fudging the rules

No, i know we went to lots of trouble to meet the rules and where surprised when we were not scrutinized for eligibility.

It was interesting to see a number of like cars parked side by side and to note differences even down to track !

They did seal my turbo... Which was the only official thing they did to the car apart from checking the horn & lights. The event organisers are asking competitors for feedback regarding the event so its an ideal time to make a point.

The other big joke was the road cards.... Whats the point in having them when everybody would just rock up to control at any time and not recieve a penalty (Not like a gravel rally). This is an area where competitors can make time on the road against the other cars that are late to control from servicing or fuel stops.

Whispers from the challenge class were that many of the cars were boasting about driving around with permanant red lights on the GPS and not much was done about it... Whats the point in having them, and a 130kmph restricted speed.

You'll notice on the final results all the time penalties added to the challenge guys.

The speed limit is certainly a problem.

I've given some feed back, but it was the same as last years.

I know your car was legal, you had it entered in the correct class for it's modification level unlike some others who just said their cars were M2 and got away with it. Unfortunately playing by the rules possibly cost you that engine.....who knows whether it would have lasted longer with another gear and no restrictor?
My comment was directed at CAMS tarmac rally rules for being too tight for the majority of performance car owners who's ordinary road cars already are outside the rules. Participation level would have to increase if they allowed some more realistic modifications. Maybe just for cars over 5 years if that keeps the manufacturers happy, perhaps?
The minimum car weights are too heavy (no one has realised it accounts for 2 spare wheels/tyres)
As for cars having to retain catalytic converters?????? yeah right
