Yeah but why???? I may be wrong but wasn't it illegal because they didn't want CFC's or whatever leaking into the air??? but the new gas is CFC free, so it should only be illegal on the older systems

well the way whoever makes these rules see it, if you are losing gas you have a leak! so the whole system should be drained and leak tested!

i do not agree with this as all systems lose gas over time. but i dont make the rules

they are cfc free but in the case of R143a which is the gas they use it still has slight ozone depleting factor, because it has a slight amount of HCFC's in it, but its much less than R12 or 22, which is why its illegal to do it.
