GTR's are good for the track and the drags however on most streets, other than straight, flat hwys the sti would be flashing tailights. However, I still want an R34 V-Spec II Nur.

The bullshit o meter is running red hot in here..
Lets weight up the factory times shall we.. all teh gt-rs, 32/33/34 all run in the 13's stock, a stock rex run in the low 14's, a stock sti runs in the high 13's.. over a freeway run, a rex would be toast around a track, a rex would be toast around the street it might be closer, but put two people in both cars who actually know how to drive them properly, which 99% of gt-r owners have no fucking idea, let alone rex drivers, and you will find the gt-r will be the eventual winner.. it all comes down to driver skill, and knowing the cars capabilities, the gt-r is a far superior car in setup and drive train, not to mention power.. the only downside to a gt-r is its weight, which will eventually cook brakes, but hey so will a rex given time..

^^^^ What he said. A GTR with drivers being equal, will beat an STI even in the twisties. I did a hill climb over here (Morwell) which is more of an up and over the hill and down and then a hairpin and come back up and over, so its not all up hill horsepower, but a twisty technical track. For once I thought I was gonna hand it to the GTR's as I thought tight twistie track, STI country. How wrong was I. Two of them pipped me. (marginally) These things are awesome. I have a new found respect for them. (One was a 33..off its head (Ask Dan C ), and the other a 34...this one almost stock but with r comps) The tricky diffs on these things really allow them to make great use of all their power and get it to the ground and steer well. They are incredibly nimble for a car condiderably larger than the STI.
There will always be arguments about level of mods etc, but I would be happy to take anybodies bet that stock for stock, drivers being equal, the GTR will own the STI in all but the tightest (motorkhana) situations. And so they should. Each in their era was considerably more than the STI. |

boys i think we are loosing sight of the BIG picture, both are great cars built for different purposes, different wallets and different markets and people, you dont win bathurst, a world rally OR australian rally in a bucket of shit.......in modified trim both can be weapons of mass destuction..........
