i would think that a 2.0l would be better than a 2.5.

howmuch quicker are the new sti's compared to the gc8 v5/r sti?

Incorrect.

Subaru only tells us that the new STI is powered by a 16v 2.0L boxer with a twin-scroll turbo mated to a 6-speed manual
Aus shitter will be 2.5, cos they think fat Aussies want more torque to pot around traffic in. Fuck you Subaru Aus.

just watched the video. I would say that video is inconclusive. I wouldnt write off the old STI yet. From that video the only information i can gather was the new STI was faster on a straight, and kinoshita in the old STI was not exactly shifting it lighting quick either.

And plus the best lap time shown in the video was 1.05.67 for the new STI. Yes thats fast but its not the fastest time marked by the WRX STI . In best motoring volume 7 ( the same DVD serries from that youtube clip) the 05 STI clocked a 1.05.37, faster time then the 1.05.67 marked by the new STI. That was done by takuya.

So i wouldnt say the new STI is faster then the old one yett. So for those ppl who think the new one is ugly, it might not even be all that much faster then the old one.

Not only that actually that 1/4 mile 12.9 by the new STI. Best motoring including volume 7 showed the old STI to clock 12.7 and OLD spec C 12.8 Heres the video with 12.8

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoOIgmSXNuk

Old sti spec C also clocked a 12.67

So just saying dont write off the old one yet...

I posted a link a while ago which shows both the older Sti and older Evo are faster in stock trim then their new brothers.
