My understanding is that the VE is a quantum leap better than previous generations but I am over compromise. It is not a race car and is not really a long distance tourer.

They are alot better but its definitely still an Aussie car. Ford, holden, mitsu, kia, daiwoo are all in the same ballpark.

HOWEVER they are appealing to guys who dont care about track cars or long distance cruisers. Just guys who have grown up dreaming of owning a Walkie or VN SS. Blokes who have made their coin and just want something that'll look good, sound tough and most importantly have enough grunt to rip a good skid when they want to relive their teenage years!

They dont care for lap times and internet bragging rights. Cant really go wrong

The only one I've driven is one of the new MC Motorsport "V8 Drive" VE's...slightly tickled 6L SS engine and I must say I was very impressed with the straight line performance. Handling was still being sorted but wasn't too bad and brakes were excellent...but this car has some trick suspension and BIG AP brakes, so is hardly standard in that context.
But at the end of the day I'd still take an STi anyday...just like the feel of a powerful compact car which is more nimble.

Hot car, but good luck trying to run a 6L reasonably cheaply nowadays. 2.5L seems to make more sense in that regard.

Mat, I think he meant 100 seperate issues. They dont recall a car at a time - just a nation wide recall for a certain issue.

Wasnt the last big one leaking fuel lines?

My mate with the new SSV managed to scrap one of his rims on the curb which clearly pissed him off but to make matters worse he went to change out the wheel so he could get it fixed and what do you know, space saver wheel !! The thing is so small its a joke and there is no way in hell you could actually use it. Liberty might not have 6 ltrs of powa but it does come with full size spare rim and tyre!!

I got out of my XR6T ute and hung out for the new maloo. Whilst it looked porn I ended up spending more coin and buying a different ute purely and simply because of my issues with shit house build quality.

agreed, the same bloke who yesterday wired a taxi will put in a special effort today just because he's wiring a hsv?

In fact there have been a number of Subaru recalls...at least 3 or 4 with the early GD series for example....
