Default Tomei 2.2 stroker kit

Hi All,

After some advice on the Tomei stroker kit, these are not cheap at $4200.00, are they/would they be a worthwhile gain over my standard Spec C Sti motor.

Or would it be better to get a 2.5 with some better pistons (Forgies).

I am running the HKS GT2835 and will probably get some bigger injectors...

cheers

dude what happen to just staying stock

i think with our car it great the way it is. matbe all we need is a set of cams from cosworth but thats about.

put some decaps in your and get a front mount and tune it up again.

330hp at the wheels is quick enough player!

I hear ya mate, but you know how the mod bug bites.

I'm still waiting for that drive too, are your issues sorted out now??

Was at Jap Wholesale today and they have a nice assortment of Sti motors, even have some new 08' Sti motors with the larger twin scroll!!

Tempting.............

You cant just whack a 2.2 kit in...its a little more than $4200, requires labour and a lot of supporting parts to make the most of it.

THIS would help a lot though.

Yeh, I did forget to mention the instal costs, wouldn't be cheap I gather!!

Thinking of a FMIC but worried about lag with the 2litre and GT2835.

I did see that turbo kit for sale.....

Thats the issue, when you add the cost of the kit and then instal it could be up near the $6K mark, I might also have a look at the Axis motors, big Ron (Flash) has got great results with his 2.3/2.4 axis motor.

Then there is the guy on Rexnet who is selling the 2.5 Sti short motor with forgies installed for just over $3K, whack on my heads and manifolds and away we go..

Mmmm. too many choices, why don't you go first Huy, then I will follow

if ur going to go 2.2 then source a 2.2 turbo block and build that up. Factory closed decked the best of the best..

i wouldnt waste my money on a tomei 2.2 kit using a standard 2.0ltr block..

Otherwise get a built 2.5..

Either way itll set u back around 10gs for the shortblock install then another 4 or so for the heads...

You are right the Tomei sounds like too much coin and it's using my existing motor.

I have had a look at the Axis site :-

What do you guys reckon about the middle engine, USD $4300.00

cheers
