300 with 000 and 001 test mules destroyed shortly before release in april of 2000. made to order by STi.

Afaik only three have made it outside of japan. on lives in hong kong, number 34 photo album here it also appears in the only two you tube videos on the s201 and a few other random internet photo's about the place. the second one is in a bad state. its basically a write off and lives in the uk and thirdly my number 25.

again, afaik one is for sale at this moment in japan, the yard had two but sold the second one last month. its number 62 and its in grade 5 condition. anyone interested?

the namesakes actually breaks down as follows.

S: Special
20: 2.0lt engine
1: the number in the series, s201 being the first, s202, s203 and s204

it was the first domestic japanese car to break the self imposed 206kw power limit. subaru got away with this because of the so called "special" status given to the project. at the time, (april 2000) on paper, the s201 was the most powerful car you could buy in japan at 221kws or 300ps.

the car's official sti website can be found here requires some translation but its all pretty much there.

having seen that 22b being driven on the road on sat (most prolly on the way to the photoshoot), i have to agree...that 22b is awesome.
it has more presence on the road than a r34 gtr....

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the original S201 concept car (pink from memory) was called the Electra....?

Ramon seeing the S201 in the flesh just makes me more convinced that the Subaru Engineers/Designers are real car fanatics... I love that S201. Maybe that can be my next car

amazing pics and cars guys! I was fortunate enought to get to see both together on sat morning! You should have seen all the looks on the gtrydaz and libo members faces when they rocked up and saw those two cars parked up.

nope. silver with grey and dirty big STI graphics down the sides.

love the uniqueness of the s201...

for the commodore fans out there, i compare it to the vl director in terms of the unique shape/kit and pure concept vehicle look that'll just grow with age...


terrific pics too, would like to see some more... ohhh...and the 22b is nice too

The Type R was made to order and the S201 was based on the Type R. I'd assume the S201 had all the good gear as standard
