man i love my 8-year-old GC8.

230,xxx K's with light mods and no problem.

how many re-calls on Betties so far?

*prepares for flamage because of ignorance, caused by only actually owning the car for a year and a half and not being aware of its (if any) recall history *

This may have been the case in the past but Subaru now have the means to detect current or historical ECU flashes....however not all dealers would neccessarily know how to use the new enhancement to their monitoring programs.
As has been said before, honesty is always the best policy when dealing with Subaru in Australia...

You play you pay, a risk assessment you take when buying a warranted car and modify it. Surely subaru would be scratching their heads to start with when men are bringing betty's back for recall work???????

Might wanna check that before taking it in.
The reason for that is because EcuTek change the Seed/Key Init sequence for the protocol as part of their "protection" locking. By doing that the standard init sequence is different then expected and thus flashing is not possible via SA tools.

Let alone the checksumming and other bits and pieces internally.

Also its not hard to physically see a car has been tampered with, most Subaru mechanics would have workshop manuals that _clearly_ state expected boost output. You don't need a masters degree to come to the conclusion that its putting out more then standard boost when looking on a gauge or the new SSMIII scan tool.
