Dunno if there is any truths to it, or just adding more complexity to the topic ..

Light easy driving, alternate between long trips and short trips, dont stay in 5 and forth for to long so alternate between the gears. BIG NO NO DONT THRASH IT STAY UNDER BOOST IF POSSIBLE
once you have done about 1000km do a oil n oil filter and tune, then you can go nuts. |

Go with your engine builder's recommendation.

Way too many conflicting views and opinions...
First off, if you have new camshafts they must be bed in by not allowing the rpm to drop below 1500. The nose of the lobes can be damaged otherwise. There has been a lot of research on the effects of run in procedures. Doing dyno run-in tunes on a wide variety of engines, our procedure was to put the engine under full load/boost from the very initial stages, This has never caused any issues and was the only way to get a full tune done to get the engines back to work for the customers. All of my own personal engines have always been driven hard from day one, I've NEVER had any issues at all. You will get a lot of different opinions, best of doing whatever your engine builder recommends to cover yourself and your warranty. My 2c... |

If I were in your situation, I'd be talking to people who build motors regularly. (EDIT: like SLG and BLUES recommend).
I've heard different ways myself so I wouldn't listen to just anyone; they would have to know their stuff big time, with proof behind it. The site Rich links to has a sound explination of why to run it hard. it does make sence. Yet there are strong points for doing it 'easy', like Chris (redlib) says. So basically, talk to the tuners in real life. well, i would.......

Bed it in like its going to be driven every day - it may as well get used to it from the get go.
