Version 6 STI speed limiter
I thought these things had a speed limiter in them at 180kph ???
It was still pulling, but the road was running out.

Might not want to post that pic on a public forum, unless it was on private property

Mine stops at 177kph by gps (speedo about 183) and does it in 4th easy.
Time you pulled back the carpet on the passanger floor, remove the ecu kick plate and see if there's a little black box wired in to the ecu harness (or see if the ecu has a tuning sticker on it). Speed delimiter should have 4 wires coming out of it if it's there.

Quote:
The speed cut lifter used at the time for track cars was through Prodive (same as fitted to Prodrive P1's). It intecepts the Speedo transducer signal signal between the ecu and cluster (cluster is fed directly from the transducer) only so the ecu thinks the car is doing 160, whilst the speedo is free to read correctly. Interesting that from 0-160 the de-limiter does nothing because the ecu will go into limp mode (wastgate pressure) if it see's no input from the speedo transducer at all. The de-limiter allows the signal to pass through untouched from 0-160, then from 160 kph and up it holds the signal at the value for 160. Quite a clever little box!

The upside may be a link ecu or similar hiding under that passanger kick plate.....

Yeah I've got a HKS speed cut defender & 260 speedo to go into mine, pain when it hits 180 & just dies till you drop below it..........not that I'd ever do that

Hee hee hee.... Not good showing this sort of thing on the public forum... So I guess
I had better come clean. I have never had my car that fast ! The "max speed" is a leftover from when I had the GPS on a commuter train from Berkshire to London I would expect as per Ross's post that mine has the standard limiter like his. It is a good conversation starter when people get in the car and the "max speed" is up that high. Would like to see the cops face at the RBT when they happed to read it
