I have same issue in my peanut. I have an after market deck and the radio wire is plugged in and I have no tint. Still very shitty reception.

Ahhh, welcome to the world of in window antenna's in Suby's.
The reception was never as good as a traditional aerial. THats why new Forester, Impreza, and WRX/STI have little shorties on the roof. I would get one of the antenna deletes that they sell for GC8 or Bugeyes (Grimmspeed?) that stick to your windscreen. That should solve it. EDIT: ^^^^ same as above really

Tinted windows were ok, if you are having very poor reception there is a problem that needs checking. Check here for what seems a decent thread on it. http://www.scoobymods.com/showthread...4955#post14955

Much appreciated Kato, has been irritating me for a while now....I originally thought I had damaged the antenna due to its location and where my amp power cable comes through the fire wall. I will give it a shot today and should be sweet
