Default Ride Height

I've got an 06 WRX and have just installed an STi front lip.

  • Original ground clearance at the front bumper was around 20cm
  • With the front lip installed, it is about 15cm.
  • I want to install a set of Super Lows which will drop the ride another 4 to 5.5cm (or so I've been told)
Is ~10cm enough clearance for everyday driving?

I know there are many cars out there that are far lower but I want to know that I will be able to clear most speed bumps, driveways etc. Any experiences with this sort of ride height would be greatly appreciated - especially 06/07s with a front lip + lowered suspension.

Thanks

100mm OR 10cm is the legal limit.

My 07 STI with the Front lip just clears kurbs and scrapes the bottom of the lip.

If I dump mine I would need to reverse park into all bays or my lip would smash the kurb.

my lip scrapes kurb on my 99. i think the exhaust is somewhere between 70mm - 80mm off the ground. i still want to go lower.

100mm is practical however i prefer it low.

Yeah I was thinking that all speed bumps etc would be made to this specification - going any lower may be a problem but @ 10cm the car should be able to clear pretty much everything... or am I in a fantasy world?

I think we have similar clearance Luigi and kerbs are definitely an issue but I've been ensuring that I stop short in parking bays. I'm more concerned about speed bumps and small kerbs in driveways etc after it gets lowered.

Mine has approx 13.5 cm clearance with the front lip and i have scraped it a couple of times on driveways etc. I think 10 cm will see you hitting quite a few things if your not very careful...

My 06 was fine lowered with the lip. Of course you cant go driving it care free like you do stock, but its not a big effort to take a sec to think about the best way to get up a driveway.

I barely found it an inconvenience.
